The British Council in Bulgaria would like to invite you to the “Assessment Literacy – 80 Years of Reliable English Testing for a Global World” conference which will be held on Tuesday 12 November 2019 in Hilton hotel, Sofia.

Building on our global expertise in English language teaching and assessment as well as our 80 years of experience in Bulgaria, we aspire to provide a space for educational and business professionals, policy makers and academics from Bulgaria and abroad to share knowledge, experience and ideas in the field of English language assessment.

Organised by the British Council in Bulgaria in partnership with the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science and Cambridge Assessment English, the conference aims to:

  • Encourage a dialogue on the quality of English language assessment and the standardisation of English proficiency testing tools used in the educational and business sectors;
  • Facilitate a discussion on current challenges in testing and assessment literacy with academics and policy makers;
  • Provide information on how the globally recognised Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) can benefit assessment, teaching and curriculum design.

The conference comprises several plenary sessions and a panel discussion, delivered by leading educational and business professionals from the British Council, Cambridge Assessment English and AIMS Human Capital. One of our guest speakers is professor Barry O'Sullivan. You can see the full agenda, speakers' list and plenary abstracts here.

The event will be held in English.

To confirm attendance, please register here by Wednesday 6 November.

If you are unable to attend the conference yourself or you know someone else who would be interested, please feel free to forward this invitation to them.

The event is part of the British Council in Bulgaria 80th anniversary programme.
