The British Ambassador Dr Rob Dixon was a special guest speaker at British School of Sofia’s Career Talk – a part of the Life and Career Skills lessons.
‘Nothing is impossible!’ With this inspiring advise His Excellency the Ambassador of the UK Dr Rob Dixon addressed BSS students. In his speech he put emphasis on the important life skills of the 21st century that have become some of the BSS Keys for Success – such as resilience, perseverance, open-mindedness, risk taking and being reflective.
‘All jobs test your resilience, test your sense of dedication, stickability, your sense of your own commitment and that is normal. Some jobs require even more resilience', continued His Excellency. But according to his words everyone's values will help them decide whether the thing they have chosen to do is still the thing they really want to do.
‘I will also give you a little bit of a sense of some of the things that sort of guided me to have made the choices in my career', added Dr Dixon and explained to our students that a career should inspire them.
When asked where he sees himself in 10-year time His Excellency Mr. Dixon answered he would like to have challenges and opportunities that keep him inspired rather than necessarily a particular job.
BSS students were very active given the opportunity to ask questions and some of them focused on the importance of a life and career choice and the necessity for a good education and foundation base.
Dr Rob Dixon was appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria in 2020 in succession to Ms Emma Hopkins OBE.
‘For me as an ambassador here in Bulgaria it’s a brilliant job. It’s a tremendous honour. With my team we are busy working on the relationships between UK and Bulgaria where I have found an incredibly friendly country, people are very warm and open, the country is really beautiful’, said His Excellency.
